We've all been there – standing in a dimly lit bedroom, staring at that perfect spot on the wall where a beautiful sconce should be. The one that would cast just the right glow for evening reading, create the perfect ambiance, and tie the whole room together.

And then reality hits: the complicated wiring, the expensive electrician, the landlord who won't approve modifications, or the daunting DIY project that never seems to get done.

When Frustration Sparks Innovation

For James and Sophia, the co-founders of Alura Decor, this frustration became all too familiar during their third apartment move in four years.

"We had collected these beautiful interior design magazines and created Pinterest boards full of gorgeous lighting solutions," recalls Sophia. "But every time we found the perfect sconce, we'd flip it over to see exposed wires and complicated installation requirements. As renters, it was always a non-starter."

James, with his background in product design, couldn't help but think there had to be a better way. "We wanted lighting that looked high-end and permanent but could move with us from home to home. Something that didn't require calling in professionals or risking our security deposit."

What began as a solution to their own lighting dilemma quickly evolved into something bigger when friends and family started asking for the prototype sconces they had created for their apartment.

But we also understand that sometimes even drilling small holes isn't an option, which is why our sconces are designed to work perfectly with adhesive mounting solutions too.

Some of our best product improvements have come directly from customer feedback. When Emily from Boston mentioned wishing for a timer function for bedtime reading, we incorporated it into our next design update. When Michael suggested a memory feature that would remember the last light setting, our engineering team made it happen.
